We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.

We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!

Your role:

As an Education Business Intelligence Analyst, you will help schools and education partners make informed decisions through high-quality data analysis, reporting and business intelligence. You will develop Power BI dashboards, analyse education performance data, deliver training, support statutory responsibilities and provide specialist advice to schools. Working within the Performance and Insight team, you will collaborate with schools, council services and external partners to drive school improvement. The role does not include direct line management responsibility but offers opportunities to lead projects and influence strategic decision-making across education services.

About you:

You will be an organised and analytical professional with experience of interpreting complex datasets and turning them into meaningful insights. You will have strong skills in Excel, Power BI and SQL, excellent communication skills and the confidence to deliver training to a range of audiences. The ideal candidate will be able to manage competing priorities, solve problems, build effective relationships and work flexibly to meet service needs. Knowledge of education performance data and a commitment to continuous learning, customer service and GDPR compliance are essential

About us:

The Education Business Intelligence Unit (EBIU) is a highly regarded team, trusted by schools and services across the Council for its expertise, customer focus and commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. The team delivers three successful service level agreements covering education performance analysis, management information systems (MIS) support and a free school meal checking service. Working within a supportive and collaborative environment, you will have opportunities to develop specialist technical skills, contribute to innovative projects and make a real impact through data-driven decision making. As part of #TeamWigan, we value positivity, accountability, courage and kindness.

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.

Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community.
