Salary: Grade 5, £27,709 - £30,515 per annum. £14.36 - £15.81 per hour

Your role:
As a Team Leader you will lead a team of grounds maintenance operatives. You will direct and control individuals and teams of employees to maximise output, efficiency and to ensure that tasks are completed to specification standard. You will be accountable for the effective delivery of day to day general and specific grounds maintenance operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the required quality standards are achieved including H & S. You will also assist the Greenspaces supervisor in work planning, prioritising your team’s workloads and allocating tasks and resources to ensure relevant productivity levels are achieved.
You will lead by example by always displaying the Wigan behaviours and support the Parks and Streetscene Supervisor by actively seeking ways to improve the service, suggesting new ways of working and embracing change.
About you:
You will lead a team in undertaking a full range of operational maintenance tasks in accordance with the required standards of the service and compliant with Health & Safety, in such a way that they maximise output and efficiency. Tasks can include all grass/lawn/greens related maintenance, shrub and hedge maintenance, flowerbed design, planting and maintenance, drainage, weed control, flower, weed and pest identification,
You will maintain relevant operational records and documentation and submit them promptly.
You will undertake driving duties, such as transporting staff, machinery and materials, and take responsibility for the security of vehicles, machinery and materials, including fuel, allocated to you.
You will have an amenity horticulture, green keeping, groundsman or arboriculture qualification such as City & Guilds 3 or NVQ Level 3 or similar
You will be able to work well both independently and as part of a team in a flexible manner in order to meet deadlines and service demands. It is also important that you have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with both colleagues and members of the public. You must also be able to apply health and safety knowledge within the workplace and be well organised.
