We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.

We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!

Your role:

As a Community Health Improvement Locality Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in improving health and wellbeing across Wigan's communities. Working as part of the Be Well Community Health Improvement Team, you will lead community engagement, health improvement projects and targeted campaigns focused on areas such as physical activity, mental wellbeing, smoking cessation, healthy eating and falls prevention. You will work collaboratively with residents, health services, schools, voluntary organisations and community groups to reduce health inequalities, develop community champions and support sustainable, community-led approaches to improving health outcomes.

About you:

You will be a confident communicator with experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of partners, community groups and residents. You will have a good understanding of health improvement, prevention and community engagement, alongside strong organisational and IT skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrate a person-centred approach, and be committed to reducing health inequalities. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and travel across the borough is essential.

About us:

Join Team Wigan and become part of an ambitious organisation committed to improving lives through its Progress with Unity strategy. You will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary Community Health Improvement Team alongside Community Health Improvement Coaches, Community Link Workers and Care Co-ordinators. This is an opportunity to make a real difference by helping residents and communities thrive, influencing long-term change and tackling health inequalities through strong partnerships, community empowerment and innovative neighbourhood-based approaches.

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.

Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community. We like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits click here to find out more about working for #TeamWigan.
