Your role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to manage the Pupil Inclusion Team, supporting children and young people at risk of disengagement from education due to permanent exclusion, repeat suspensions or reduced timetables. You will lead a skilled team, working closely with schools, families and partner agencies to ensure pupils access a suitable, inclusive education. The role includes oversight of complex cases, using data to drive improvement, and ensuring Wigan Council meets its statutory duties in relation to access to education.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education and inclusion, with a deep understanding of legislation and practice relating to attendance, exclusion, alternative provision and SEND. They will be an effective leader with experience of managing and motivating teams, alongside excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with schools, families and partner agencies. Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive improvement are essential. Flexibility is required, including travel across the borough. A passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people is key to success in this role.
