Salary: Grade 5, £26,824 - £29,540 per annum pro rata. £13.90 - £15.31 per hour

Your role:
Reporting to the Senior Asset Manager (Town Centre & Markets) the Content Assistant will support Wigan Council’s town centres and markets by creating and managing engaging digital content (e.g. social media, video, photography.) They will promote activities, events, retailers and future regeneration projects. The role involves storytelling, stakeholder engagement, analysing performance data, and improving communication channels. It also includes supporting events, ensuring brand consistency, and contributing to campaigns that highlight community pride and vibrancy, helping to strengthen public awareness and engagement with town centre assets
About you:
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, experience creating engaging social media content, and knowledge of photography and video editing. They should be highly organised, IT proficient, and able to manage workloads to deadlines. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are essential, alongside an understanding of town centres or small business environments. A proactive attitude, creativity, flexibility, and the ability to analyse data and adapt content are also key requirements.

Candidates shortlisted from application will be invited to an in-person assessment day.
Morning: A group exercise designed to assess collaboration, creativity and communication skills.
Midday: A shortlisting (sift) of candidates based on performance in the group activity.
Afternoon: Individual interviews for candidates who successfully progress from the morning session.
Please note that only candidates who meet the required standard in the group exercise will be invited to interview on the same day.
