Your role:
You will play a key part in driving performance of the Building Repairs & Maintenance in-house delivery team, whether it is planned or responsive void or tenanted properties.
You will be responsible for undertaking repair, maintenance and refurbishment works predominantly on Wigan Council’s housing stock.
Attend emergency call outs on a rota basis outside normal working hours.
This includes weekends and Public Holidays.
You will provide exceptional customer service, be adept at dealing with a range of customers, and be the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Council when working in the borough.
You will help to drive and improve operational performance and help identify and remove any barriers that could hinder improvement of the service.
You will be accountable for your work with a customer focused ‘get it right first time and on time approach’
About you:
Undertake a broad range of electrical work predominantly on Wigan Council`s housing stock to a standard that is acceptable to the Council.
Utilise the electronic and work planning notification systems, complete EICR`s, EIC, Minor Work certification and portable appliance testing for domestic properties.
Undertake ongoing training to comply with changes in regulations and new legislation.
Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative, with a logical approach to solving problems.
A Qualification to City and Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent and the current Edition IEE Wiring Regulations, City and Guilds 2394 and 2395 or City and Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing, with experience of working in a building or construction industry or related field of activity, within social housing or Corporate Properties.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer care skills, to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders including operatives, managers and residents
