About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join Trafford Council's Place Business Support Team as a Business Support Team Leader (Development Management).
Working closely with the Place Business Support Manager, you will lead a dedicated team providing high-quality administrative and technical support to the Planning and Development service. You will play a key role in ensuring planning applications and related processes are administered efficiently, helping the service achieve statutory timescales, government targets and local priorities.
This varied role includes overseeing customer enquiries, coordinating business support activities, managing financial processes, supporting Planning and Development Committee administration, and ensuring information is maintained accurately and in compliance with relevant legislation. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, elected members, external organisations and local communities to deliver excellent customer service and support Trafford's place-shaping ambitions.
If you enjoy leading people, improving processes, solving problems and making a positive difference to services that support Trafford's residents, businesses and communities, we'd love to hear from you.
About You
You will be an organised, motivated and customer-focused individual with experience working in a busy administrative, business support or customer service environment. You will have excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
You will be confident using a range of ICT systems and able to analyse information, resolve problems and identify practical solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, partners, councillors, residents and other stakeholders.
Experience of supervising, coordinating or leading a team would be desirable but is not essential. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate leadership potential, support service improvements, motivate others and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
Experience within a planning, development management or built environment service would be advantageous, however this is not essential. Applications are welcomed from candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills and experience from other sectors.
Most importantly, you will share Trafford Council's EPIC values, be committed to delivering excellent customer service and be enthusiastic about supporting services that make a real difference to Trafford's residents, businesses and communities.
