Tower Hamlets is one of London's most vibrant and diverse boroughs, with ambitious plans to improve outcomes for residents and communities. We are seeking a talented and motivated Strategy & Policy Officer to join our Children’s Services Strategy, Policy and Improvement team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of council-wide and directorate strategies, policies and improvement programmes that make a real difference. Working closely with senior leaders, elected members, colleagues and external partners, you will help shape strategic priorities, provide policy expertise and support the delivery of key corporate and Children’s Services objectives.

The role offers a varied portfolio of work including strategy development, policy analysis, business planning, research, consultation and engagement, partnership working, equalities and service improvement. You will get to work alongside colleagues in children’s social care, education and youth service as well as partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development of high-quality strategies, policies and plans based on robust evidence, research and analysis.
Produce reports, briefings and presentations for senior officers, elected members and strategic partnerships.
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes for residents and communities.
Monitor policy, legislative and regulatory developments, identifying risks and opportunities for the Council.
Support consultation, engagement, equality and partnership initiatives across the organisation.
Contribute to service improvement, transformation projects and corporate priorities.
Support the Council's work with scrutiny, voluntary and community sector organisations, external regulators and partnership bodies.

About You

We're looking for an individual who is passionate about public service and has the skills to help shape policy and drive improvement.

You will have:

Knowledge of national and local social and economic policy issues and the challenges facing local government and children’s services
An understanding of statutory, policy and regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
The ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience of or interest in strategic planning, policy development, consultation, equality, partnerships, performance or service improvement.
A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and delivering excellent outcomes for residents.

This post may require occasional evening and weekend working, subject to notice. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equality, inclusion and excellent customer service in all aspects of their work.
