Role Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and has the commitment, passion and drive to help an enthusiastic team deliver a high-quality service. You will provide outstanding customer care, within a high profile and vital Council service that supports to the day-to-day activities of all residents, business and the thousands of daily visitors to the area.
You will play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality through the enforcement of parking restrictions. More importantly, as a member of the Council, will play a key role in providing information and advice to the general public.
To carry out Parking and Traffic Enforcement throughout the Borough through the issue of Penalty Charge Notices.
To identify and report vehicles for possible removal for the reason of being parked in contravention of the relevant restrictions or for being abandoned.
As required work as part of a two-person crew on the removal of vehicles, directing the removal and assisting with the removal operation.
Key Responsibilities
Enforce parking and traffic regulations on the highway and in car parks through the issue of Penalty Charge Notices. To identify and request removal of vehicles parked in infringement, abandoned or untaxed. When working as part of a two-person crew, authorise the removal of vehicles in accordance with the Council’s criteria and all relevant legislation, guidance and codes of practice. To report defective parking equipment signs, and lines. To report issues requiring investigation and/or action by other services within Tower Hamlets (e.g. defective streetlights, signs, litter, rubbish left out for collection, graffiti and fly tipping).
Requirements
The person would require a general standard of education, be able to work on their own initiative and also have the ability to communicate at all levels and handle potential difficult situations.
The role requires working a 35 hour per week (Mon-Fri) in a daily shift pattern between 08:00 - 18:00 and the person should be fit and able to walk several miles per day outdoors in all types of weather. We are also looking for applicants interested in night shift pattern between 18:00 - 03:00 working a 35 hour week over five days (Mon-Sun).
The role also requires the person to have good concise and clear handwriting when making notes, be a good team player with excellent attendance. The person must be legally entitled to work in the UK
