Crisis and Resilience Officer
Thanet District Council
We are looking for a self-motivated and proactive individual to join our Home Energy Advice Team. This is not about managing emergencies in a traditional sense - we want you to help residents build long-term stability, warmth, and resilience into their lives.
The new Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) is launching. It is a key initiative designed to support our vulnerable residents through sudden financial shocks and help them build lasting resilience against future hardship.
As our new Crisis and Resilience Officer, you will be the public face of this fund and an ambassador for our work. You will literally be out in the community, conducting home visits and leading our ColdBusters initiative. This is a hands-on role where you will directly install simple but effective energy-saving measures (like smart radiator controls and draft-proofing) to help lower residents’ energy bills and improve home comfort.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to join Thanet’s wonderful working culture, while developing their professional skills and making a real difference to real lives.
You will be:
- Managing projects from start to finish.
- Visiting residents to install practical measures that improve thermal comfort and reduce energy consumption.
- Assessing the needs of households during visits, providing advice and signposting residents to other vital services.
- Work with our colleagues in other organisations such as utility companies and charities to create a holistic support system for the people you get to know.
- Keeping accurate records of your visits and the impact we’re making.
You will also be:
- A great communicator, with patience and genuine enthusiasm.
- A quick learner with a can-do attitude who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Great at prioritising.
- IT literate (confident using Google Workspace and MS software) so that you can record information accurately.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experienced in providing advice to vulnerable groups.
Why Thanet?
At Thanet District Council, we do things differently. We are committed to ‘Providing the housing we need,’ ‘Protecting the environment,’ and ‘Creating a thriving place.’ By joining us, you’ll be contributing directly to these corporate priorities. This role offers you the chance to gain unique experience in project management, public service, and community support.
If you want to make an impact and leave a lasting legacy in your local community, we want to hear from you.
Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment checks
