Port Maintenance Operative

Department Overview
We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our Maintenance Team and contribute to the upkeep and on-going improvements at the Port of Ramsgate and Royal Harbour.

Main Duties
- The general maintenance and repairs of all timber and steel fabricated pontoons, fenders, pile guides etc. within the harbour areas.
- Fabrication of infrastructure using materials such as wood, metal fabrication, fiberglass and installation of plumbing, etc.
- Carrying out inspections to inform fault reporting.
- Provide and maintain work sheets and records for workshop machinery.
- Undertake general maintenance as instructed by Maintenance Foreman where considered competent.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in fabric maintenance and hands-on practical skills in a marine or industrial setting.
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, operation of applicable machinery e.g. forklifts and ‘Cherry Picker’
General experience in a marine setting would be advantageous.
Qualifications
NVQ or similar in an applicable discipline would be advantageous.
Driving License
This post requires you to have a full driving license
Other Considerations
The post holder will spend much of the working day outside on the port/harbour or in a construction site environment. This can involve working in very harsh conditions over the winter months in a marine environment.
