Are you passionate about improving homes and making a difference for tenants?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Council’s Tenant and Leaseholder Services as a Voids Inspector. We’re a dynamic, forward-thinking housing service committed to delivering high-quality homes for our residents. As part of our Responsive Repairs and Voids Team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring vacant properties are brought back to a high standard quickly, safely and efficiently, helping families move into quality homes without unnecessary delay.

Why this role matters

Every empty property represents an opportunity to provide a home for someone in housing need. As a Voids Inspector, you’ll be responsible for inspecting vacant properties, identifying the works required to meet the Council’s lettable standard, and managing those works through to completion. Your technical knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to quality will directly contribute to reducing void turnaround times while ensuring homes are safe, compliant and ready for new tenants.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing accurate work specifications and cost estimates, including major refurbishment projects, and agreeing final accounts on completion.
  • Working closely with Void Officers, contractors and internal teams to coordinate works and ensure properties are returned to use as quickly as possible.
  • Scheduling repairs and renewals, monitoring contractor performance, and undertaking post-inspections to ensure work is completed to the required quality, compliance and value-for-money standards.
  • Providing technical advice on complex maintenance issues and consulting with the Responsive Repairs & Voids Manager where specialist input or decisions are required.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of the voids service by identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and customer outcomes.

Why join us?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious housing service that is committed to delivering safe, high-quality homes for its residents. You’ll be part of a professional and supportive team where your technical expertise and judgement will make a genuine difference to the lives of local people.

If you’re an experienced property inspector with a strong understanding of building maintenance, excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering high standards, we’d love to hear from you.
