Service Administrator Building Safety Levy
Thanet District Council
Thanet District Council is looking for a Service Administrator to join our Building Control team. This is a specialised and vital role designed to support the implementation and management of the Building Safety Levy (BSL)—a high-profile national initiative that ensures the safety of our built environment.
The Role
Working closely with the Senior Service Administrator, you will be the primary point of contact for the administrative lifecycle of the Building Safety Levy. You won't just be processing paperwork; you will be determining levy chargeability, managing revenue, and providing expert guidance to developers and consultants in a fast-paced, commercial environment.
Your Impact
- Levy Expert:Lead the end-to-end BSL process, from determining liability and issuing determination notices to receiving payments and issuing certificates.
- Customer Champion:Provide high-quality, professional advice to the public and developers regarding fees, application types, and exemptions.
- Financial Integrity:Oversee invoice issuance, monitor debt recovery, and coordinate quarterly revenue transfers to the MHCLG.
- Continuous Improvement:Attend national engagement sessions to stay ahead of best practices and help the Council navigate legislative changes.
- Team Support:Provide essential technical and administrative support to our Case Officers to ensure the entire department runs like clockwork.
What You Bring
- You will have a high standard of general education (minimum 5 GCSEs) and proven experience in a busy administrative or commercial setting.
- You will be highly confident using Google Suite and Windows-based data management systems.
- You should be organised, meet tight deadlines, and are comfortable handling sensitive financial data.
- You must be able to translate complex regulations into clear guidance for stakeholders, remaining professional and courteous at all times.
- While Building Control experience is a plus, we are happy to provide training for a candidate eager to gain new qualifications in this field.
