Fixed Term Active Wellbeing Activator

Job description

The Sport and Leisure team serve a varied coastal community in Tendring delivering high-quality physical activity opportunities to keep residents healthy and active. Tendring District Council is looking for two motivated and enthusiastic individuals to deliver the Council’s community based active wellbeing programme. As an Active Wellbeing Activator, you will be the face of the service, supporting healthy and happy communities through physical activity programmes as part of the Sport and Leisure Service.

About You:

This role will give you the opportunity to develop and lead a range of active wellbeing programmes and work in partnership with other organisations, including local voluntary sector groups and local residents. The position requires strong personable skills and a good understanding and demonstrable experience of delivering community focussed physical activity. You will be leading the delivery of programmes such as:

• Weight Management Classes
• Healthy Lifestyles & Active For Life Programmes
• Physical Activity for Mental Health
• Back to Health referral & prescription exercise, in partnership with Tendring’s Primary Care Network

You will also be integral to developing partnerships with others and bringing to life activity across our leisure centres and wider community activity. The successful candidate will be qualified in relevant health and fitness qualifications that allow them to deliver these activities in line with the Person Specification. For exceptional candidates we may consider those with partial or lower-level qualifications but are prepared to increase these qualifications within a given time.

The post holder would be expected to work some evenings and weekends.

We are currently recruiting two Activators on fixed term, full time or part-time position(37hrs and 22hrs per week, respectively). 

Fixed term until 31st March 2028.
