Job description

The People team comprises a tightknit team of officers who work closely together to manage all people related elements of the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure across:

  • Recruitment
  • Employee Relations
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Payroll and HR Systems amongst others.

Below is a list of some of the tasks you will be asked to complete:

Ensuring that employee records and electronic files are updated accurately and maintained
Answer the telephone, taking messages and deal with routine HR enquiries.
Produce accurate records and documents including emails and letters.
Maintain documents, ensuring sensitive and confidential information is
handled in compliance with the Council’s procedures.
Assist with administration/data input as directed by Human Resources Team.
Support recruitment, pre-employment and induction processes.
Monitor Probation procedure.
Monitoring & maintenance of HR & Recruitment inboxes.
Support the Leaver process.
System support for Self Service.
Photocopying/scanning and collating of documents.
Minute taking at team meetings and other meetings when required.
Providing excellent customer care to staff and managers raising HR related enquiries and escalating when neededArchiving files in accordance with the Retention Policy.
Ensuring that time is managed effectively to achieve the Administration
Assistant Apprenticeship Standard.
Any other duties as required by People Directorate.

The post holder will communicate with other Departments and outside organisations at all levels.

To attain optimum performance in service delivery within area of responsibility.

The post holder should seek the advice of other Team members on day to day matters and the HR Advisor on difficult or contentious decisions.

This vacancy is linked to the Level 2 Administration Assistant apprenticeship. 

In accordance with the Department for Education Apprenticeship Funding Rules 2026–2027, applicants must be aged 16–24 at the start of the apprenticeship to be eligible for government funding
