Are you a skilled tradesperson with a passion for maintaining and improving homes? Tendring District Council is looking for a dedicated Housing Repairs Tradesperson to join our Building & Public Realm team on a permanent full-time basis.

About the Role

As a Housing Repairs Tradesperson, you’ll carry out a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks across Council properties. From carpentry and plumbing to general building maintenance, your work will help ensure our homes are safe, compliant, and well-maintained for our tenants and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations (e.g. Legionella, Asbestos, Fire Safety).
  • Support emergency call-out services on a rota basis.
  • Liaise with contractors and ensure adherence to Council procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Mentor apprentices and support colleagues across trades.

What We’re Looking For

  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in Building Maintenance or equivalent experience.
  • GCSEs (A*–C) in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and safety standards.
  • Ability to use PDAs/laptops for scheduling and reporting.
  • Full UK driving licence (Council vehicle provided).
  • Experience in the social housing sector is desirable.
