Job description
Tendring District Council is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join its senior leadership team as Assistant Director – Building and Public Realm. This key role is responsible for delivering and continuously improving a wide range of frontline and statutory services, ensuring they are efficient, compliant, and aligned with Council priorities.
You will provide strategic leadership across services including building, engineering, public realm, waste management, and coastal protection, while managing significant budgets, leading major projects, and advising Members and senior stakeholders.
You will be an accomplished senior leader with experience of managing complex services, ideally within local government, and hold a relevant Level 7/8 qualification and/or chartered status. With strong expertise in service delivery and financial management, you will be confident working in a political environment and have a proven track record of driving improvement, innovation, and organisational change.
