Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate individual to join our Housing Allocations Team on a permanent basis. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference by helping people access suitable housing and supporting them through an important stage in their lives.
Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, you will help maintain the Council’s housing register and contribute to the allocation of Tendring District Council housing stock, as well as processing nomination requests from housing associations.
This is a career grade post, with salary progression linked to the post holder’s ability to demonstrate the competencies, skills, knowledge, and experience set out in the person specification. Support will be provided as you develop in the role, and competencies will be reviewed regularly.
In this role, you will:
- Visit applicants in their homes to assess their housing circumstances and support them to complete the online application form
- Maintain the Housing Register in line with Council policies, procedures, and performance targets
- Assess applications to determine eligibility and qualification for inclusion on the register
- Assist with the allocation of social and affordable housing in accordance with Council policies, procedures, and targets
- Undertake escorted viewings and provide a positive experience for applicants throughout the process
You will bring:
- Experience in a front-line, customer-focused role
- Confidence using IT systems and standard software packages
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a sensitive approach with the public
- The ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
