The Role
As a Finance Officer, you will contribute to the provision of an efficient, effective and comprehensive financial management service to the Council, its partners and external clients. Working in the Children’s Finance Team, with a particular focus on supporting schools, you will need financial expertise to provide high quality, timely and accurate financial information, alongside provision of advice and guidance, which will contribute to the effectiveness of the organisational decision-making process.
Key Responsibilities
- The delivery of key financial tasks including monthly budget monitoring, annual budget setting, corporate finance tasks and final accounts
- Supporting Schools and Council Service directorates with budget planning, medium and long term financial planning
- The provision of an efficient, effective and comprehensive business partnering and financial management service to the Council, partners and external clients ensuring resources are maximised within existing budgets
- The continuous review, development and implementation of financial systems, policies and procedures
- The provision of financial and business support, advice, guidance and training to schools and budget managers in compliance with Council policies and procedures
- The evaluation of invest to save / service transformation proposals to deliver cost efficiencies and cost avoidance, together with the evaluation of future year service delivery models
