The Role

Tameside Council has an exciting opportunity to join the Crisis Payments Team and make a meaningful difference to people’s lives, helping us to achieve our ambition of Starting Well, Living Well, and Ageing Well in Tameside.

We are looking for someone to support the Crisis Payments delivery, with the knowledge and expertise to support residents approaching the council who are in crisis and require financial assistance.

The role includes the provision of advice and assistance in a holistic, person centred, needs-based manner and will encompass supporting residents around income maximization through to identifying and supporting people at risk of personal debt.

The role will issue crisis payments whilst seeking to understand the residents underlying needs and referring to appropriate wraparound support to address the root cause of the individual’s crisis, building financial resilience and preventing repeat applications.

About You

You will need to be enthusiastic with a commitment to excellent customer service and be a team player. You will be responsible for speaking to clients on-line, by telephone and face to face and will carry a caseload.

You will have excellent communication skills and IT experience as well as experience in providing advice in welfare benefits, income maximisation, budgeting or debt.

The ability to make sound judgments is essential and you must be able to use your problem-solving skills whilst working under pressure and at pace.
