About the Role

Are you organised, analytical and interested in how councils handle information lawfully, securely and transparently?

We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Information Governance Officer to support the Council in meeting its responsibilities under Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information and related Legislation.

This is a varied role where you will help manage information requests, support data protection compliance, assist with incidents and internal reviews, and provide practical advice to officers across the Council. You will also support performance management and transparency reporting by helping to collate, check and present accurate information for senior management and committee reporting.

About You

You’ll bring experience of working in information governance and a good understanding of data protection, Freedom of Information and Environmental Information principles. You’ll be confident applying this knowledge in a practical setting, supporting officers to manage information lawfully, accurately and within statutory deadlines.

Experience of working within, or closely alongside, a local authority environment is important, together with an understanding of how council services operate and the need to balance transparency, confidentiality, customer service and compliance. You’ll be organised, analytical and comfortable handling sensitive information with care and discretion.

This is a valued role within the Council’s Information Governance function, working with services across the organisation to provide clear support, resolve queries, support accurate reporting and promote good practice. Selection Process
