About the Role and our Ideal Candidate About the Role and our Ideal Candidate The role aims to sustain and/ or resettle Sutton's residents at risk of homelessness within the private sector, to prevent escalation of homeless applications and reduce the number and length of stay of Sutton's homeless households in temporary accommodation. Residents with uncertain future renting will therefore be best placed to maintain tenancies longer-term. About You You will have a good understanding of housing options and Housing legislation, benefit entitlement, training and employment opportunities and the impact of legislative changes such as welfare reform. Able to collect and extract relevant information to accurately identify and evaluate the nature of the client’s enquiry, applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures to make clear, informed and consistent decisions on the appropriate course of action.You will have significant experience of providing information, advice and guidance to members of the public in complex environments. Able to communicate effectively in writing and orally, complex information, ideas and arguments clearly and concisely using communication styles that are appropriate to different people and situations. Understanding anxieties, emotions, needs and motivations and manage expectations though support, negotiation and information provision to achieve the best outcome.You will be experienced in motivational interviewing or other similar intervention techniques. Demonstrating a customer-focused attitude, showing diplomacy, empathy and understanding with a desire to resolve issues and find solutions to maximise the options and opportunities available to customers. Be creative and constantly innovating to meet clients' needs in new and improved ways. Able to motivate and support individuals through a process of personal change that is outcome focused.Able to build positive relationships and work effectively and cooperatively with others, respecting differences and embracing diversity, challenging inequality and poor behaviour, be open to new ideas and act on feedback. About Us About Us The Wellbeing and Support Team is a holistic housing and homelessness support team located within LB Sutton's Housing Advice Service.The team's mission statement is to support our residents' tenancy sustainment, de-escalate homelessness at early signs of risk and where homelessness is unavoidable, resettle residents into suitable, affordable and longer-term tenancies.The Wellbeing and Support Team sits within the Housing Advice Service.
