The starting salary for this permanent position is
£42,958 per annum
based on a 36-hour working week.
The role is currently based at Victoria Gate,
Woking
, however the team is agile, working from home and other offices and locations in Surrey. The role will be based in East Surrey from 1 April 2027 after Local Government Re-organisation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated applicant to join the Education Place Planning team within the Education and Lifelong Learning service as a
Education Place Planning Assist
ant
. The Education Place Planning team supports children and young people in Surrey by ensuring there are sufficient school places across the county. The team works closely with education providers to ensure sufficient and sustainable school places.
As a Education Place Planning Assistant you will have the opportunity to:
Prepare information for public consultations to engage families, members of the public and other interested parties in school organisation changes
Prepare information to support strategic school place planning
Analyse data to support decision making, particularly in regard to school organisation
Analyse and share pupil forecast data with schools, multi-academy trusts and other stakeholders
Be involved in facilitating political process for decision making on additional specialist places for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans
Build relationships with education providers and wider stakeholder groups
Your Application
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills experience and align with our
behaviours
:
Experience of working with complex datasets and using this to draw conclusions and make recommendations
An understanding of working with schools, or in a local authority educational environment, with experience of political process being desirable.
Knowledge of current educational policies and frameworks
Experience of maintaining relationships with schools and other stakeholders
Competence in a range of IT tools, including Excel, Access and working with databases

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)
Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation and will move to new authorities in April 2027. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then. If you are employed by Surrey County Council on 1 April 2027, your employment will transfer under TUPE arrangements to one of the new councils, with your current terms and conditions protected.
