This role has a starting salary of £31,659 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.
We're looking for a highly motivated Senior Blue Badge Officer to play a key role in the delivery of Surrey County Council's Blue Badge Service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong operational, customer service and organisational skills to support the efficient administration of the national Blue Badge Scheme while providing day-to-day leadership within a busy team.
This role is based at our Dakota Office in Weybridge and we offer a hybrid working model with a minimum of two office days per week.

About the Role
In this role, you will assess and process Blue Badge applications in line with Department for Transport guidance, ensuring applications are administered fairly, accurately and within service standards. You will provide expert advice and guidance to customers, colleagues and partner services, supporting applicants through complex queries, appeals and complaints.
As a senior member of the team, you will support the team Supervisor with operational planning, workload management and service performance monitoring. You will coordinate daily and weekly task allocations, monitor processing volumes, and distribute weekly service performance information to support transparency and continuous improvement.
You will act as a key point of contact for the service, responding to technical and operational queries, providing support and using your advanced knowledge of Blue Badge systems and processes to help resolve issues and maintain service continuity. In the absence of senior leads, you will provide day-to-day operational support and act as the first point of escalation for the team.
The role also involves supporting appeals, complaints, Member and MP enquiries, contributing to service improvement projects, reviewing application forms and processes, and assisting with the delivery of training and knowledge-sharing activities across the team.

Experience of administering complex processes within a customer-focused environment and strong understanding of eligibility-based assessment and decision-making.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate team workloads and experience handling complaints, appeals and sensitive customer enquiries.
Confidence using multiple IT systems and supporting colleagues with system and process issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting responses for senior stakeholders, MPs and elected Members.
A commitment to continuous improvement, accuracy, accessibility and excellent customer service and the ability to work collaboratively, support colleagues and contribute positively to team performance.

This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then.
