We are excited to be hiring an Alternative Provision Attendance Monitoring Officer to join our fantastic Alternative Provision and Participation team. There are two permanent positions available, one will be based in the East at Woodhatch Place, Reigate and one will be based in the West at Victoria Gate, Woking. As a team we split our time between collaborating together in the office and working from home. As part of Surrey County Council's Alternative Provision and Participation Team, you will play a key role in strengthening our oversight of attendance for children and young people accessing Alternative Provision and other education arrangements. Working across the Children, Families and Lifelong Learning (CFLL) directorate, you will use attendance data, professional curiosity, and strong partnership working to identify emerging concerns, support information sharing, and contribute to improved outcomes for some of Surrey's most vulnerable learners. This is a unique opportunity to combine analytical skills with a genuine commitment to improving children's outcomes. By ensuring attendance concerns are identified at the earliest opportunity, you will help support effective decision-making, multi-agency planning, and access to education for children who may be at risk of missing out. Your key responsibilities as an Alternative Provision Attendance Monitoring Officer will include: Monitoring and tracking attendance data using the Studybugs attendance management system, identifying patterns, trends, and emerging concerns Maintaining accurate records and providing timely reports to support oversight, decision-making, and service improvement Working collaboratively with internal teams, providers, families, and partner agencies to ensure attendance issues are understood and responded to appropriately Supporting the Local Authority's oversight of children accessing Alternative Provision and those who may not be on roll at a school Contributing to information sharing, quality assurance activities, and multi-agency planning to help ensure children receive the support they need to engage in education If you're passionate about improving educational outcomes, enjoy working with data to drive meaningful action, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you. Your Application In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours : Experience or familiarity with placement brokerage, Alternative Provision, SEND, education commissioning, or a related service area Strong organisational and analytical skills, including the ability to collate, interpret, and present data to support service planning, reporting, and continuous improvement Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with providers, internal teams, partner organisations, and other stakeholders Strong ICT, systems, and data management skills, including confident use of Excel and the ability to manipulate, analyse, and present data effectively The ability to manage competing priorities, remain calm under pressure, and work collaboratively to resolve issues and support positive outcomes for children and young people An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks will be required for this role. The role holder will need to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role. Please provide an example of when you have worked with a range of stakeholders, such as providers, schools, internal teams or partner organisations, to resolve a complex issue or improve service delivery? This is a fast-paced role requiring the ability to manage competing demands under pressure to ensure timely alternative provision placements are secured for children.
