Job Introduction
This role has a starting salary of £34,660 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This role is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract/secondment.

Information Governance Officer
to join a newly centralised Information Governance Team at Surrey County Council. The team works across different locations in Surrey with this role’s base location being Victoria Gate, Woking, however it is open to hybrid working.

About the Team
The Information Governance team is a vibrant, newly centralised team responsible for supporting the County Council with Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Records Management as well as helping with the preparation for local government reorganisation. Our aim is to help the Council maximise the potential of digital and data to transform the way we work, improve accessibility and achieve the Council’s purpose of making sure that no one is left behind.
About the Role
Your role will involve being the first point of contact for the team, you will log requests using iCaseworks, liaise with professionals both within the Council as well as external agencies; keep track of information, update and maintain spreadsheets and databases; take meeting notes and subsequently distribute to involved parties, liaise with requestors. You will assess and manage first line requests for information and guidance. You will support and assist across the team as needed. This is a busy role where no two days are the same.
You will be highly organised and willing to take responsibility and use initiative; and comfortable in setting your own priorities and meeting deadlines. You will make sure that everything is in place to guarantee that all runs smoothly for the processes and team you support.
Excellent interpersonal skills are essential along with a high level of written and oral communication skills. You will have experience of working with highly confidential information in a customer focused environment and have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

An understanding of UK GDPR, will be an advantage.
Knowledge of iCaseworks would be an advantage.
A basic DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) will be required for this role.
