Job Introduction This role has a starting salary of £38,090 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This role is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract/secondment. This is an exciting time to join a newly centralised Information Governance Team at Surrey County Council. The team works across different locations in Surrey with this role’s base location being Victoria Gate, Woking, however it is open to hybrid working. Our aim is to help the Council maximise the potential of digital and data to transform the way we work, improve accessibility and achieve the Council’s purpose of making sure that no one is left behind. About the Role This is a fast paced and busy role, where no two days are the same. Reading and redacting will form a large part of your day and therefore you will need to be very focussed. You would be answering queries from both internal and external stakeholders. You will therefore need to give timely, clear and effective advice. You will use the electronic document and case management systems in operation, while demonstrating an understanding of confidentiality. Experience of dealing with requests made under Data Protection Act and an understanding of the legislative requirements of Information Governance, such as UK GDPR, will be an advantage. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate good IT skills in Outlook, Word and Excel. We work to set timeframes to comply with legislative deadlines; Someone who can act as a point of contact for internal and external clients; A proven knowledge of redaction; we can only disclose data within the parameters of relevant legislation; Someone who can demonstrate the ability to work flexibly as you may be assigned to undertake different tasks within the Information Governance team in order to meet service needs; A meticulous eye for detail, we work with highly sensitive, complex and confidential data on a daily basis; Excellent communication skills. Keeping an open dialogue with all stakeholders throughout the process is essential as you will be working closely with other departments and external agencies.
