About the Academy
Surrey Children’s Academy are working in partnership to recruit, develop and retain a workforce that gives the best care and support to children, young people and families in Surrey. To achieve this we are invested in developing new social workers through different training pathways and supporting them in their early careers. This role sits within the team that supports social work students on placement within the Council and also provides assessment for newly qualified social workers (NQSW) on their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
About the Role
Our vision for the ASYE is that NQSWs are supervised by a Team Manager and assessed during their programme by a separate ASYE Assessor. The Assessor is an Advanced Social Worker with extensive work experience in a number of fields. They will meet with the NQSW on a monthly basis, provide critically reflective supervision, be one of the trainers at the monthly ASYE Learning Events and advocate for them to ensure that their volume and complexity of allocations is where it should be at each review stage - these occur at three, six and twelve months where formal reports are written by the Assessor.
We work autonomously with our assigned learners however, as a team together, the Manager, our Advanced Social Workers and our Practice Educators all collaborate and support one another to deliver teaching and learning opportunities.
You may already have undertaken Practice Educator training, although if not this can be completed when in role. There can be considerable cross over between PE and ASYE roles. For more information on the ASYE programme nationally see
ASYE
