Your Role

This is a unique and varied role, requiring close multiagency working to deliver bespoke support to young people. You will be part of a committed team fulfilling statutory duties for children in our care and delivering on the wider extended duties of the Virtual School. The core aim of the service is to ensure the children that we work with achieve their full potential, supporting them to attend school well and thrive.

About You

We are seeking a committed and dedicated professional with a strong understanding of the barriers children and young people may experience in attending school. The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly alongside education and social care colleagues to understand children’s individual circumstances and offer individualised support to meet their attendance and educational needs. You will be an empathetic, problem-solver who has the ability to build and maintain key relationships with young people.

Stockport Virtual School and College is a successful service with statutory responsibilities to champion the education of children in our care and care leavers; and with extended duties for children who have previously been in our care, children in kinship care arrangements and children with a social worker or open to youth justice. We work alongside colleagues in education, social care, youth justice and beyond to promote high aspirations for the children we work with and ensure they have the best opportunity to succeed in education. We are team of dedicated and hardworking professionals, with a strong ethos of peer support and collaboration. The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
