Your Role
As a Team Leader in the Sustainable Transport and Highways Service you will participate in a wide range transport projects working closely with senior officers, councillors, developers, residents, businesses and other key stakeholders. Supporting the successful delivery of projects by the supervision of staff and the sharing of skills and experience to support the development of the team.
Current areas of work include: electric vehicle charging projects, business case development, strategy and policy development, school street projects, scheme monitoring and evaluation, and scheme activation events.
About You
You will have:
- Extensive experience in researching, evaluating and writing transport policies / strategies.
- Experience in contributing to the design, development and delivery of sustainable transport schemes/ initiatives including business case development and procurement.
- Experience in consultation facilitation.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Experience in the monitoring and evaluation of transport and highways schemes /projects.
- A creative approach to problem-solving.
- An organised approach to work and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with varied audiences, including the public.
- A professional approach, with aptitude to work on your own initiative.
- A desire to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.

This team leader role sits within the Strategy, Policy And Research Team of the Sustainable Transport and Highways Service. You’ll play an important part in our ambition to develop a transport network that is green, inclusive, resilient, and safe and helps to reduce air pollution and lower our overall carbon emissions. The teams areas of focus includes: GIS, Sustainable Transport, Public Rights of Way and Community Rail and we support the councils ambitious programme for growth and development. Working alongside experienced professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary department you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills.
