Two exciting opportunities have arisen at Stockport to become a Consultant Social Worker (CSW) or Deputy Consultant Social Worker (DCSW) on Approach Social Work (previously known as the Frontline programme), a three-year fast-track social work training programme.

Consultant Social Worker
MB4 (£45,091 - £51,356)
37 Hours, Full Time
Permanent
Stopford House

As a Consultant Social Worker, you will lead a hub of five Approach Social Work participants who are students training to become child protection social workers. You will guide them as practice educator in the first year of the programme, supervising and developing them, modelling good practice and assessing and grading their practice with children and families. This is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to remain in practice while gaining experience in management and developing student social workers into the profession.

Deputy Consultant Social Worker

The Deputy Consultant Social Worker supports Approach Social Work participants who are training to become child protection social workers, and their line manager, the Consultant Social Worker, in developing the participants’ social work practice, offering co-working and shadowing opportunities, and deputising for the CSW during any periods of absence. The Deputy CSW remains in their substantive post.

To support your learning and professional development in both the CSW and DCSW roles, you will access a high-quality leadership development programme over 12.5 days, receive support from one of Frontline’s Practice Tutors and after 12 months achieve Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) Stage 2 (for CSWs) or Stage 1 (for DCSWs) if you are not already in hold of this qualification.

The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence but this can only be used for certain roles and this campaign does not currently qualify.

Further details about these roles can be found in the CSW job pack and DCSW role guide attached. If you would like to find out more, you can also contact:
