Your Role
Stockport Music Service is looking for instrumental teachers in a variety of disciplines to begin work in September 2026. We will require the following maternity cover, expected to be until July 2027;
- String teaching and ensemble tutoring on a Friday evening, initially 4-7 pm with the possibility of extra teaching before or after.
- String teaching during the school day (hours TBC)
- Piano accompaniment for Infant Music Makers, Thursday 4-6 pm, with the possibility of additional teaching afterwards.
We would also like to increase our casual pool of teachers in other disciplines, so that we are prepared for any incoming requests for tuition. This will include brass, woodwind, drum kit & orchestral percussion and music production.
The work will involve small group instrumental teaching and whole class ensemble teaching in schools during the day and possibly some evening ensemble work at the music centre. There are a range of hours available.
About You
The successful applicants will be enthusiastic music educators who can work flexibly with different age ranges and schools. You will be working with complete beginners through to students preparing for high level ABRSM and Trinity examinations so you must have a good technical knowledge of the demands made on your instruments/voice and the ability to communicate this to your pupils alongside the general musical knowledge required.
You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to engage young people and communicate your love of music. Although this is a temporary contract in the first instance, there may be opportunities for further work for the right candidates.
