Job offers to successful candidates will be made according to the days/hours preferences they express on their application form and may be filled as follows:

Full time 5 days a week (34 hours) Includes a paid Wed staff meeting to 5pm. Term time only
OR
Two part time posts split between two candidates. Include a paid Wed staff meeting to 5pm. Term time only.

Your Role

Required for a September 2026 start. Two enthusiastic and committed people to become part of the Hearing and Vision Specialist Service, part of Stockport Council Childrens Education Services providing 1-1 inclusive support for children and young people who have vision impairment in educational settings. The people appointed will work as part of a supportive and friendly team under the guidance of the Head of Service/ Team leader and Qualified Specialist Teachers of Vision Impairment.

About You

Applications from candidates with no experience of vision impairment are welcomed, however candidates must be able to clearly demonstrate a keen aspiration to specifically work with children and young people who have vision impairment. Some basic background knowledge, if not experience, is also desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Further professional development opportunities and guidance and necessary training will be provided, especially if the successful candidate does not yet have experience in working in this specialist area of education. Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence but this can only be used for certain roles and this campaign does not currently qualify.
