We are seeking a clinical psychologist with experience in early years or an experienced and skilled Mental Health Practitioner with a compassionate approach and a passion for working with toddlers and their families to develop a modern and inclusive Greater Manchester Toddler and Parent Mental Health Hub.
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of developing an innovative service model for working with toddlers aged 2-5 years, and their parents within GM. Working with the clinical and strategic lead, you will be a senior practitioner in this specialist team and be supported by an assistant practitioner. Your Role
Working under the strategic direction of the GM Clinical and Strategic Lead, this senior practitioner role supports the development, delivery and evaluation of the two year GM ParentToddler Mental Health Hub. The post promotes an inclusive, evidence informed approach to toddler mental health across GM, strengthening pathways and building workforce capacity in partnership with early years services. Key functions include coordinating operational delivery; raising awareness of toddler mental health; supporting scoping, codesign and model development; coordinating assessment, intervention and consultation; contributing to pathway improvement aligned to Best Start in Life; leading workforce development; and supporting evaluation, research, reporting and governance.
About You
You must hold a core professional qualification (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Health Visiting, Social Work, OT, RMN, SALT, Teacher) with relevant professional registration and additional training and experience in 0-5's social emotional development and mental health; additional early childhood mental health or attachment training is desirable. Experience should include assessment, intervention and risk management with toddlers and families, alongside safeguarding, supervision, training and service development.
Knowledge of toddler development, attachment, trauma, early relationships, evidence based approaches and early years systems is essential. Strong communication, assessment, intervention, organisational and IT skills are required, as well as the ability to work autonomously, manage emotion in clinical contexts, and give/receive supervision.
About Us
The Greater Manchester Toddler Hub is a 2-year funded test and learn project with the aim of scoping the mental health needs of toddlers and their families. The project will work across the 10 boroughs of GM working in collaboration with families and the toddler workforce to understand the needs of young children aged 2-5 years and their families. The specialist hub will provide workforce development and training about toddler development, focusing particularly on social emotional development and mental health. The hub will be a specialist resource across GM as well as testing innovative and evidence-based ways of supporting the mental health needs of toddlers and their families. The project will work towards the development of a coproduced sustainable model of toddler and parent mental health within GM. We will be a small team including the strategic and clinical lead, this post and an assistant practitioner.
