Assistant Residential Child Care Practitioner

We are looking to recruit 3 x full time (37 hour) assistant residential child care practitioners to our children’s residential home Mather Road.
Successful candidates will be required to work towards a QCF level 3 in residential childcare. Upon qualification staff will be awarded a pay increase to grade 6. Candidates already holding a QCF or equivalent in residential childcare will start on grade 6.
The home is operational 24 hours a day 7 days a week and the role consists of shift work including evenings and weekends. Enhanced pay is awarded for evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement.
As an asst residential childcare practitioner, you will work as a member of a team taking the role of corporate parent for young people within the home. You will support young people with all aspects of their lives including building relationships and resilience, developing skills for independence, completing domestic tasks, education, health and wellbeing and meet all their social, emotional, cultural and therapeutic needs as well as supporting all other day to day routines.
You will support to ensure young people are safeguarded from harm and are able to take appropriate risks in line with their risk and support plans.
You will be responsible for maintaining a welcoming and nurturing environment in which young people can thrive.
You will be required to take on the role of a keyworker ensuring that young peoples voices are heard and their wishes and feelings communicated. You will be responsible for ensuring plans are up to date and meet young peoples individual needs. You will work closely with other professionals in the network and work with other agencies to ensure positive outcomes for young people.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
