Revenues & Benefits - Revenues & Benefits Officer G5 – Revenues
The Council Revenues and Benefits Service is responsible for Billing, Collection and Recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefit Overpayment & Sundry Debt.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive individual to work as part of our Housing Benefit Overpayment & Sundry Debt team responsible for administration , processing and recovery of Housing Benefit Overpayment & Sundry Debts.
We welcome collaborative thinkers, excellent communicators, enthusiastic to work in conjunction across sections and can demonstrate a clear customer focus with established customer service skills balanced with effective service delivery.
Currently, we are seeking to appoint a full-time position of 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, with the position to be based at Howden House. We currently operate a hybrid working pattern with the expectation of a minimum 20% attendance in office.
The successful person will ideally need to demonstrate relevant experience working in income maximization, Housing Benefit Overpayment and Sundry Debt recovery via different available options to progress all unpaid debts through the Recovery cycle.
In addition you will need a range of skills and experience, and including:
- Excellent I.T. skills. There is a requirement to be familiar with Revenues and Benefits processing systems and Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Excel and MS Word.
- Experience and knowledge of a customer-focused approach to service delivery, balanced with the needs of the service users.
- Experience dealing with internal and external customers via all available communication channels.
This varied and challenging role requires a keen commitment to teamwork, exceptional communication skills, customer care skills, the ability to liaise effectively and professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
All successful candidates will be required to complete a Basic DBS check.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
