Data Support Manager
Sheffield City Council
Do you have a background in working in data and finance systems with education and learning services? Are you passionate about making a difference in people's lives through supporting a service that provides learners with access to education, skills development and progress towards employment?
Sheffield City Council is seeking a Data Support Manager, to work as a job share alongside the existing post-holder, to play a critical role in the effective operational, financial and data management of our Lifelong Learning and Skills Service. This is a key leadership role supporting the delivery of multiple externally funded programmes in a highly regulated environment.
In this role, you will lead service‑wide data, information and operational systems, ensuring robust arrangements are in place for data quality, funding compliance, audit readiness and performance reporting. You will have a strong focus on data integrity, assurance and continuous improvement, ensuring that information used for decision‑making, funding claims and statutory returns is accurate, timely and reliable.
You will work closely with senior managers, budget holders, finance colleagues and external funders to oversee funding allocations, contracts and grant agreements, identifying risks to delivery and advising on mitigations to maximise funding and ensure compliance with funding rules and audit requirements.
The role also includes responsibility for leading audit activity across multiple funding streams, supporting internal and external audits, and ensuring effective business continuity arrangements are in place so that critical systems and processes can continue to operate in the event of disruption.
We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
Under the Guaranteed Interview scheme, applicants who are disabled, care leavers, or armed forces veterans will be guaranteed an interview if they meet the essential criteria and indicate their eligibility on the application form.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026. Find out more on our Sheff news page.
