Asset Management team

Sheffield City Council is one of the largest social landlords in the country, managing around 38,000 homes. Our Asset Management service plays a central role in ensuring those homes are safe, sustainable and fit for the future.

We are strengthening our leadership capacity and are recruiting two Service Managers to lead key functions across Asset Management.

About the role

You will lead a core asset management function, with responsibility for service delivery, performance, investment and improvement within a large and complex operational environment.

You will be responsible for leading one of the services that from part of Sheffield City Council’s Asset Management function:

  • Investment and Capital Programmes
  • Stock Condition and Analysis
  • Commercial and Domestic Heating, Mechanical and Electrical

You will lead multidisciplinary teams and work closely with colleagues across Housing, Repairs & Maintenance and Building Safety & Compliance to ensure services are well-governed, high-performing and delivery-focused.

You will work closely with technical specialists, contractors and partners to ensure programmes and services are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

Alongside day-to-day leadership, you will play a key role in strengthening how we plan, prioritise and deliver investment in our homes, ensuring value for money and strong outcomes for tenants.

What you’ll bring

You will be an experienced manager with a track record of delivering results in complex service environments.

You will demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership of operational or technical services, ideally within housing, asset management or a related field
  • Experience of managing performance, budgets and service delivery at scale
  • The ability to lead and develop teams, building clarity, pace and accountability
  • Confidence using data, insight and performance information to drive improvement
  • The ability to work across organisational boundaries to deliver integrated services

You will be comfortable handling complex issues, making sound decisions and maintaining delivery in a fast-moving environment.

Membership of a relevant professional body, such as RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, is desirable.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
