Senior Infant Feeding Worker

Are you passionate about supporting families and promoting infant feeding practices? Sheffield City Council is seeking one FTE Senior Infant Feeding Peer Support Worker for Sharrow Family Hub to mentor a dedicated team of Infant Feeding Peer Support Workers. This role plays a vital part in improving early health outcomes for children under five and supporting families across our Family Hubs.
You will provide day-to-day supervision, support the Family Hub Co-ordinator with work allocation, and offer peer support to families in both group and one-to-one settings. You’ll also work closely with the Family Hub Coordinator and Infant Feeding Lead to ensure high-quality service delivery and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor Infant Feeding Peer Support Workers, including regular one-to-one meetings.
- Support the Family Hub Co-ordinator with day-to-day work planning.
- Support families with infant feeding, bonding and early nutrition.
- Promote breastfeeding and healthy lifestyles within the community.
- Support Family Hub Co-orinator in the development and delivery of support groups such as breastfeeding drop-ins and tongue tie clinics
- Collaborate with health professionals and community partners.
- Contribute to staff recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service evaluation and improvement.
- Contribute to the delivery of training and development related to Infant Feeding, including the Infant Feeding and Relationship Building Level 1 course as part of the Early Help Partnership training offer.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in infant feeding support, including breastfeeding.
- Strong mentoring or supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
- Flexibility to work outside normal office hours when required.
- A successful breastfeeding experience and involvement in community work are desirable.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
