Based at Manor Lane Depot, you will play a key role in leading and developing a team of electricians and multi-skilled operatives delivering responsive repairs, planned maintenance and minor capital works across the Council's diverse corporate property portfolio. This includes landmark and operational buildings such as the Town Hall, libraries, depots, crematoriums, the Medico Legal Centre and major office accommodation including Moorfoot.

About the Role

As Electrical Team Leader, you will be responsible for the effective supervision, planning, organisation and deployment of operational staff to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. You will lead by example, promoting excellent customer service, safe working practices and continuous improvement across the service.

In addition to leading the electrical team, the successful candidate will act as the Council's NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS), providing technical oversight of electrical installations, inspection and testing activities, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 and NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme requirements, and maintaining high standards of electrical safety and workmanship across the service.

  • Planning and coordinating responsive repairs, programmed maintenance and minor electrical projects.
  • Managing resources, materials, plant, transport and subcontractors to achieve service objectives.
  • Ensuring compliance with electrical regulations, health and safety legislation, CDM requirements and Council policies.
  • Using ICT systems to manage workloads, monitor performance and improve service delivery.

About You

  • A relevant electrical qualification to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing qualification (or equivalent) and substantial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety, health and safety legislation, CDM regulations and industry good practice.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to motivate teams, manage performance and deliver results in a demanding operational environment.
  • A customer-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A willingness to work flexibly and travel across the Council's estate as required.

Why Join Us?

This is an excellent opportunity to lead a skilled team delivering essential services across some of Sheffield's most important buildings. You will be part of a service committed to safety, customer excellence, professional development and continuous improvement.
