Provider Services Worker – Enablement Team

Future Options Provider Services is seeking committed and motivated a Provider Services Worker to join its Enablement Team.

This is an opportunity to support adults to build skills, confidence and resilience, achieve agreed outcomes and live as independently as possible.

This is not PA/Support Worker role but an Enablement worker role that specifically completes short term independence work.

About the Role

The Enablement Team works with adults aged 18–65 who may have a learning disability, physical disability, mental health need and/or autism. Provider Services Workers deliver time-limited, person-centred support that enables individuals to develop or regain practical skills, increase independence and reduce reliance on ongoing support where appropriate.

Working in partnership with each individual, you will focus on their strengths, aspirations and agreed outcomes, including:

  • Developing the skills required to live more independently at home
  • Accessing education, training, volunteering or paid employment
  • Increasing safe and confident access to community facilities and activities
  • Building confidence, resilience and positive social connections

Key Responsibilities

You will provide tailored enablement support in a range of settings, including people’s homes, workplaces and community venues. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting individuals to learn, practise and sustain daily living skills, such as meal preparation, household tasks and managing money
  • Promoting informed choice, independence, confidence and proportionate positive risk-taking
  • Supporting access to access volunteering, employment and community opportunities
  • Delivering support in accordance with person-centred enablement plans, agreed outcomes and risk-management arrangements
  • Monitoring progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to reviews of enablement outcomes
  • Working independently, using professional judgement and contributing positively to a supportive multidisciplinary service

The role involves city-wide travel and lone working. Successful candidates must therefore be flexible, organised and confident in managing their workload, while maintaining regular communication with colleagues and managers.

Access to a car is helpful but is not essential.

About You

  • A positive, flexible and empowering approach to enablement
  • Knowledge and experience of Enablement within LD, PD and Autism.
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative and respond appropriately to changing circumstances
  • Ability to diffuse and deescalate crisis situations
  • Effective communication, relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • A clear commitment to person-centred practice, equality, dignity, choice and independence
  • The ability to work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, colleagues and partner services
  • Competence in English, maths and IT skills
  • The successful candidate will be expected to independently commence Enablement casework after a brief induction period

Under the Guaranteed Interview scheme, applicants who are disabled, care leavers, or armed forces veterans will be guaranteed an interview if they meet the essential criteria and indicate their eligibility on the application form.  Sometimes, if lots of people apply, we might not be able to interview everyone who qualifies for the Guarantee. In these cases, we’ll interview the candidates who best meet the essential criteria for the job.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
