Project Support Officer Job Advert

Are you passionate about equality and eager to make a real difference? Sheffield City Council is looking for dedicated individuals to join the Sheffield Role Review Programme (SRRP) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a meaningful, people-centered initiative that ensures equal pay for all council employees.

About the Role:

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team working collaboratively across different services to address complex challenges and build robust processes for equal pay. You will have the chance to make a lasting, positive impact at Sheffield City Council.

What We Offer:

  • A friendly, welcoming, and supportive culture where you can grow and thrive.
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support to help you succeed.
  • Opportunities to work with a diverse team of professionals and build a network within the council.

You will play a lead role to co-ordinate key details for the Sheffield Role Review Programme.  This will involve supporting the job evaluation process, maintaining project documentation for a clear and visible audit trail, tracking changes and responding to programme queries.

Additionally, you will lead in the planning and execution of a diverse range of meetings, workshops and briefings, where you will maintain accurate project records, including programme actions, progress reports, minutes of meetings, plus the gathering and analysis of related management information to drive programme success.  You will also have an opportunity to oversee a few smaller related projects from initiation to completion.

We are looking for exceptional candidates, who are people-centred and can communicate effectively with our stakeholders and can work independently, using initiative to prioritise work, analyse and support the programme activities. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to accurately organise, control and maintain information on our electronic systems.

This role is Sheffield-based, and you will be required to work regularly in our Sheffield offices and workspaces, travelling to different sites based on business needs.

We are looking for individuals who are resilient, open-minded, and committed to our values. If you have a passion for making a difference and are ready to take on new challenges, this will be the perfect role for you. Join us in our commitment to ensuring equal pay for all. Together, we can create a fairer and more just workplace for everyone.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups.  We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.

It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.

Under the Guaranteed Interview scheme, applicants who are disabled, care leavers, or armed forces veterans will be guaranteed an interview if they meet the essential criteria and indicate their eligibility on the application form.  Sometimes, if lots of people apply, we might not be able to interview everyone who qualifies for the Guarantee. In these cases, we’ll interview the candidates who best meet the essential criteria for the job.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.

Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026. Find out more on our Sheff news page.
