We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Revenues and Benefits Systems Support Team. You will work within a small Systems Administration Team providing technical support to colleagues across the Revenues and Benefits service and the wider Council to ensure efficient use of Capita One, NEC Document Management and NEC Revenues and Benefits for Business rates.

This is a technical systems role and not a finance role. As such, in your role, you will be maintaining and supporting our Revenues and Benefits systems working with internal colleagues and third-party external system suppliers and your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing system administration functionality such as, creation of new users, groups and first line support
  • Maintenance of system batch jobs, tasks and promptly addressing any issues 
  • Managing Direct Debit and Housing Benefit payment runs and Council Tax recovery and collections jobs 
  • Assisting with Year End Activity including the annual billing process and financial year rollover 
  • Payment Reconciliation 
  • Testing of new releases and functionality 
  • Ensuring compliance for GDPR including archiving and data retention 
  • Providing assistance in the completion of statutory returns 
  • Working on projects to improve user and customer experience and continued development of our systems.

    For this role you will need a range of skills and experience including: -

    • Knowledge and experience of Revenues and Benefits systems including MRI Revenues and Benefits, NEC DM and NEC Business Rates  
    • Excellent organisational skills with a good attention to detail
    • A detailed understanding of a customer focussed approach to assist with system faults and queries from users
    • Excellent I.T. skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications
    • Effective team working and collaboration with colleagues
    • Effective communication skills and an ability to explain information to a wide variety of audiences
    • Demonstrating good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Innovative thinking with the ability to generate new ideas and contribute to service improvements

    The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated, with the ability to work unsupervised and committed to early morning, evening and weekend work when required, particularly at key times of the year.  There may be occasions when you are required to work outside of regular working hours.  We operate a hybrid working model and our office is based at Howden House.

    At present, we are adopting hybrid working with a combination of time working from home and some in the office (Howden House) Appropriate IT equipment and training will be provided to the successful applicant.

    If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
