We are looking for someone who is seriously good at social video.

If you are already creating exciting, attention-grabbing content, this is your chance to shake up how Sheffield City Council shows up on social.

You will film, edit and create standout content that shows off the city, its people and communities.  Bringing fresh ideas, spotting trends and raising the bar for our video.

  • People who know how to grab attention, stop the scroll and make people care about what they are seeing

You might be building your own channels

You might be creating content for brands, communities or just because you love it.

You might be working in communications.

We do not mind where you have developed these brilliant social video skills.
We care that you are really, seriously good at it!

This role is about shaking things up

We are not looking for safe, polished, dull content.

We want someone who will:

  • Change up how we think about social video
  • Bring humour, personality and bold ideas
  • Spot trends early and use them well
  • Try things, test things and push boundaries
  • Help the whole team raise their game on social video


You will help us rethink how we show up across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and WhatsApp – with scope to grow TikTok too.

What you will actually be doing

This is a hands-on, out there, creating role. 

  • Filming across Sheffield, from major events to everyday stories
  • Editing content people really want to watch
  • Turning ideas into fast, engaging, interesting social video
  • Showing off what makes Sheffield brilliant, especially its people, communities and transformation
  • Jumping on trends (the right ones) and making them land
  • Bringing new techniques, styles and ideas into the team
  • Helping others get more excited about and confident in being creative with video

You will also play a part in running and growing our social channels as the Job Description describes, but the heart of this role is social content creation particularly video.

You do not just use social media, you understand it.

  • Create content that connects with real audiences
  • Are confident filming and editing
  • Are always spotting ideas and trends
  • Bring energy, enthusiasm and creativity

  • Shortlisting commencing 11 July 2026
  • Successful interview candidates will be emailed an invitation to book and a social video task to complete ahead of interviews
  • Interviews 28-30 July 2026

Interviews will be done via Teams with a recruitment panel.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
