- Providing advice and practical assistance with housing options and early homelessness prevention.
- Supporting customers with Housing Register applications and bidding.
- Applying relevant legislation and the Council's Allocations Policy when considering Housing Register eligibility.
- Discussing realistic housing options, including the private rented sector.

About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working in a busy, customer-focused environment.
- Can communicate sensitively and effectively with people in difficult or challenging circumstances.
- Is comfortable handling sensitive and emotive information.
- Can follow policies and procedures and use these to make appropriate decisions.
- Is organised, able to manage competing priorities and can work to tight deadlines.
- Has good IT skills, including experience of packages such as Word, Excel and SharePoint.
- Can work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Takes a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Can build positive working relationships with colleagues and partner organisations.
- Can provide a non-judgemental service to customers from a wide range of backgrounds and with diverse needs.
- An awareness of the Council's Housing Allocations Policy, together with a basic understanding of housing and homelessness legislation and welfare benefits, forms part of the essential requirements for the role.
Why this role?
- This is an opportunity to work in a varied front-line housing role where you'll help customers understand their options and take practical steps towards finding sustainable housing solutions.
- You'll be joining a service focused on preventing homelessness while helping residents access appropriate housing advice and support.
