As an Environmental Services Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining clean, safe and healthy environments across the city. Working in partnership with other Council services, external agencies and local communities, you will help deliver a wide range of environmental services that directly improve the quality of life for residents.

About the Role

The successful candidate will undertake a varied and rewarding range of duties, including:

Internal and external property clearances.
Responding to environmental incidents including fly-tipping, illegally dumped commercial and household waste, animal carcasses, sharps and other hazardous materials.
Cleaning, cleansing and disinfection of contaminated, verminous and noxious premises and articles.
Vegetation reduction and removal in public, domestic and commercial settings.
Accurately recording information and completing work records using mobile technology.
Driving Council vehicles and undertaking daily vehicle safety checks in accordance with established procedures.
37 Hours per Week | Full Time

About You

We are looking for an individual who:

Works effectively as part of a team while also being capable of working independently.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Is self-motivated and able to prioritise workloads effectively.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to health and safety.
Can work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Is physically fit and capable of lifting, moving and carrying bulky items safely.
Is flexible and willing to occasionally work weekends to meet service demands.
Holds a full UK driving licence.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
