Lead communities. Support your team. Make a visible difference.
Are you an experienced supervisor who takes pride in delivering excellent frontline services? We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Lead Estate Officer to join our South West Housing Team. You will lead and motivate staff, work closely with residents and partners, and help keep our estates clean, safe and well maintained.
This is a varied, practical role where you can see the impact of your work every day. You will balance team leadership with hands-on oversight of estate services, responding calmly to changing priorities and helping improve the experience of residents across South West Sheffield.
What you will do
- Lead, supervise and motivate Estate Officers, block-cleaning staff and operational colleagues.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor estate and block-cleaning services against agreed standards and targets.
- Monitor contractor performance and liaise with contractors, Council colleagues and partner organisations.
- Work with residents to understand concerns, provide clear updates and support practical solutions.
- Oversee services including rubbish collection and disposal, refuse chute and bin-room clearance, graffiti removal, vacant property clearance and communal-area maintenance.
- Ensure communal repairs are reported and, where required, post-inspected; support minor communal repairs.
- Maintain accurate work records and provide clear verbal and written reports.
- Support budgeting, stock control and the safe maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment.
- Train and develop team members, promote high standards and contribute ideas for improving local services.
- Support service cover across the Estates Team when required.
What we are looking for
- Experience of supervising, supporting or motivating staff in an operational or high-profile service environment.
- A practical understanding of estates work and associated frontline services.
- Strong customer-care and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, colleagues, contractors and external partners.
- The ability to organise work, use initiative and deliver effectively without direct supervision.
- A calm and effective approach to emergencies, difficult situations and competing priorities.
- Sufficient literacy and numeracy to follow written instructions and complete basic records and timesheets.
