We’re now looking for a Facilities Manager to play a vital role in maintaining this aim and playing their part in shaping how our buildings are managed every day for the benefit of service users throughout Sheffield

What You’ll Be Doing

  • The role is focused on the operational management of buildings and associated FM staff, to ensure they are safe and available for use by service teams.
  • The role will require the successful candidate to manage:
    • a flexible assigned portfolio of sites from within the corporate estate, which includes a wide variety of building types.
    • a team of facilities staff that covers your portfolio of sites
    • the performance of contract partners and in-house teams that undertake repairs and servicing
    • the compliance of your portfolio, principally relating to fire safety, legionella control and asbestos management
    • liaison with the users and stakeholders, in an effective manner, so they can fulfil their service delivery requirements to the people of Sheffield.

What We’re Looking For

  • You will need to have excellent management skills, with problem solving attributes along with being enthusiastic, confident, and well organised. Ideally you will have experience and/or formal qualifications in Facilities Management service delivery or related activity.
  • You will need knowledge and/or formal qualification/experience of Facility related Health and Safety, statutory testing and monitoring staff /contractor performance to ensure your success.
  • You will need to recognise that you will be a key person that will ensure that together we get things done so people improve and take pride in what we do.
    • In achieving this you will need the ability to support staff, raise standards, undertake effective communication, monitor partner providers’ activity, effectively reporting against your objectives.
  • You will need to be able to put people at the heart of what you do to ensure we effectively listen to and support our staff and the people that use our sites, help wellbeing along with challenging discrimination
  • You will need an open and honest approach to your work by fostering an environment that supports people in speaking up and bringing diverse ideas to what we offer, along with seeking out feedback on the way we work.
  • The Service makes extensive use of IT systems to support, manage and monitor service delivery so experience in this area will ideally be required.
  • You will need to demonstrate excellent customer liaison skills to ensure you deliver on the wide-ranging objectives required by the post.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
