Help shape the future of Sheffield's corporate estate

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong technical background in construction, building maintenance or property asset management to help deliver investment across one of the region's largest and most diverse property portfolios.

Working alongside Service Managers and Heads of Service, you'll help develop and deliver a property investment programme typically valued at around £20 million over a five-year period, ensuring our buildings remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

About the role

You'll use building condition surveys, compliance information and technical data to identify priorities, develop business cases and manage projects from inception through to completion.

Managing a diverse programme of building improvement and maintenance projects, you'll make evidence-based, risk-informed decisions to ensure investment is targeted where it delivers the greatest benefit within available resources.

You'll coordinate structural inspections across the estate, review structural engineers' recommendations and prioritise remedial works based on risk, business need and available funding.

You'll also review proposed designs, provide technical advice and make recommendations to ensure projects meet statutory requirements, particularly around fire safety, while delivering value for money.

The role includes responsibility for managing project budgets, monitoring expenditure, preparing financial forecasts and producing reports that support informed decision-making.

Working collaboratively across the Council, you'll build strong relationships with Service Managers, Heads of Service, Capital Delivery Service, technical consultants, contractors, elected Members and other stakeholders to successfully develop and deliver projects.

About you

You'll be an experienced project or property professional who can combine technical knowledge with sound judgement and strong communication skills.

You'll have:

Experience of managing construction, building maintenance or capital projects.
Knowledge of construction methods, structural defects, statutory compliance and CDM Regulations.
A good understanding of fire safety and the ability to review and challenge technical designs.
Experience of managing budgets, financial forecasting and programme reporting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk, prioritise investment and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication and report writing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to a range of audiences.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
