Adult Social Worker

We are looking for full-time, qualified Social Workers to join our Mental Health Social Care team in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, by supporting them to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives in our community.
About the Role
As a Social Worker in our Mental Health Social Care Team, you will be expected to:
- Carry out statutory duties in line with the Care Act 2014, with adults with a range of mental health issues and conditions who live in the community. This includes conducting strengths-based, holistic needs assessments, co-ordinating and reviewing support arrangements and care packages, and undertaking safeguarding enquiries
- Work collaboratively with individuals, their families, carers, and multiple partner agencies to promote positive wellbeing and recovery, and enable the achievement of personal goals
Essential Qualifications
We require candidates with:
- A Social Work Degree/Diploma or equivalent
- Evidence of continuous professional development, including completion of ASYE or evidence of equivalent
- Active registration with Social Work England
What We're Looking For
We want to meet candidates with:-
- Compassion, enthusiasm and interest in working with adults with mental health conditions
- A good standard of knowledge of mental health, with particular knowledge around social perspectives, approaches and interventions
- Experience of working within in community, health and/or local authority settings
- Excellent legal literacy, with particular focus on the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Mental Health Act 1983/2007, and the Human Rights Act 1998
- Reflective and analytical skills, combined with communication and empathy
- A strong motivation to work both as an autonomous and conscientious practitioner, and collaboratively within a team and with partner agencies
- Good confidence/knowledge of IT, and crucial ability to manage time effectively

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
